The Time Outs make rockin’ kid music that offers a groovy new twist on the usual fare. Forming in the late seventies and rising to local glory in the early eighties, the Buzztones started as a band to pay the respective members rent while they worked on “real” music projects. Predictably, all of the “real” music projects went up in flames, while the public seemed to really pick up what the Buzztones were putting down. They were a mainstay on Wednesdays at Abernathy’s in Walnut Creek and Mondays at Mountain Jacks in Lafayette. What they put down was a collection of British Invasion, out of the way American gems, and any song they loved. Mixed in was a healthy dose of big laughs, inside jokes, and infectious new dance crazes. Some embarrassing eighties hairstyles were included although most existing photographs have been confiscated and destroyed. The Buzztones have been sighted very few times in recent years. Some people think they joined an exotic cult, or started doing singing telegrams, or got into barbershop quartet competition. These rumors are only partially true. The band stopped playing together for many years, but forgot to break up. It is always a blast when they get together. Dave is currently fronting “Dave Martin’s House Party”, Alan drums for “Dream Posse” and also plays with Ken in “Mersey Beach”. Dan plays in “LUMBERYARD” and does solo acoustic work. Ken can also be found playing solo acoustic. The Buzztones were and are: David Martin - Vocals, Guitars Ken Cooper - Vocals, Guitars Dan DeShara - Vocals, Guitars, Bass Guitars Alan Thiele - Vocals, Drums, and no guitars
